We are now proud owners of a large pile of woodchips for our Woodland Garden pathways, courtesy of our neighbor and abutter Ann Davidson. We hope some volunteers will use our Transfer Station "find" wheelbarrow that sits upside down near the compost pile to spread a new layer of wood chips on our paths.
A DPW employee shared a tip with us that a garden fork is the best tool to use for distributing wood chip piles efficiently.
We like to use these chunky wood chips to delineate the paths, keep down the mud during rainy weather, and smother most of the opportunistic weeds that pop up during the growing season.
